DOROTHEUM:
Since
1707, the most renowned auction
house in Central Europe. Everything is available: from cars to
scuptures,
furniture to jewellery, and stamps to old master
paintings. The Dorotheum's subsidiary in Prague was founded in 1992. A
spacious sales gallery of modern design invites customers to select
from
a wide range of paintings, glass, porcelain, silver, jewellery,
antiques,
and decorative objects. This is also where the public viewings for
upcoming
auctions take place. The highest sale to date occurred at the May
auction
2000, where Josef Capek's painting "Woman with headscarf" sold for CZK
2 million (= EUR 54,000 EUR).
High
prices
were also achieved for classic examples of Czech modern art like Kamil
Lhoták, Josef Mertlík, Václav Špála, Josef
Šíma and for various 19th century paintings by, for instance, Vojtech
