The comfort and decor of each guest room captures the warmth and rich cultural heritage of Venice. Accommodations include 225 luxurious rooms, and nine lavishly appointed suites. Each room offers air conditioning, television, direct dial telephones, and self-service minibars. The magnificent Doge Suite is considered the most luxurious in town, reserved far in advance by statesmen, movie stars and leading entrepreneurs. Danieli's charming rooftop restaurant, La Terrazza's, offering delectable Mediterranean and regional cuisine, complements the captivating panoramas of the Grand Canal, the lagoon and, on the horizon, the Lido and Adriatic Sea. The Terrace Bar is open from May to October. The Dandolo Piano Bar is the ideal place for a romantic "rendez-vous". To
preserve
its precious architecture, the hotel has no swimming pool.
Nevertheless,
there is free boat transportation available during the summer months to
the Westin Excelsior and the Hotel Des Bains at Venice Lido.
DANIELI:
Castello, 4196, 30122 Venice GRITTI PALACE (*****L): The Gritti Palace dates back to 1525, when it was commissioned by the Doge of Venice: Andrea Gritti. Construction began that same year. Archival records show that frescoes attributed to the Veronese style that originally adorned the facade, no longer survive today. At first the official residence of the Gritti family, it was later used as residence of the Vatican's ambassadors to Venice. Later still it was home to successive noble families. Over the centuries it has had illustrious guests. Officially opened in June 5, 1948, the Gritti Palace is located right on the Grand Canal. Facing the grandiose Church of Santa Maria Della Salute, it makes it particularly enchanting. From the terrace, directly on the Grand Canal, guests can enjoy an incomparable view of Venice. The 82 guest rooms and 9 suites offer luxurious comfort in an atmosphere created by precious decorations and beautiful antique furnishings. Somehow less famous than the Danieli, the Gritti Palace remains its unique actual counterpart... without any conflict, as both hotels are managed by the same group! Venice is famous not only for its fine art, scenic vistas, and a charming way of life, but also for its cuisine. The quite formal Club del Doge restaurant and the casual though ritzy Bar Longhi offer guests culinary delights and enchanting views of the canal and city. Local and fresh ingredients and the tradition of Venetian gastronomy are the central themes that the executive chef elaborates in his famous recipes. Rates
tend
to be slightly more expensive than at the Danieli.
